    Lutein and zeaxanthin are carotenoid pigments found in green leafy vegetables and other colorful fruits and vegetables. They are known for their significant benefits to eye health and vision. These compounds accumulate in the macula, a central region of the retina, where they act as natural antioxidants and blue light filters. By doing so, they help protect the retina from oxidative damage and improve visual perception.
    This new study was the first of its kind to show improved visual and cognitive benefits for young children taking lutein and zeaxanthin supplements. Of note, children who took the lutein and zeaxanthin supplements every day for 3-6 months had improvement in their macular pigment scores, improved visual processing speed, a decrease in eye fatigue after digital device use as well as cognitive benefits.
    Cognitive benefits seen in this study include improved attention, focus, episodic memory, visual-spatial memory, as well as visual spacial processing speed.
    In addition to these benefits, lutein supplements have been shown to enhance other areas of eyesight and health, Including improved memory, sleep, and stress reduction. To learn more, check out this other video we posted • The 5 AMAZING Eye & He...

    I have gone through two barrage laser procedures for retinal hole and lattice. Now I suffer from eye flashes and floaters. The only things that have reduced eye flashes are lutien ziaxanthin billberry and astazathin medicine that I take daily. Now I work 8 hours a day as a Research Assistant for the UN with little to no complications. I'm 25 years old with -8.50 prescription glasses. That's good to hear apart from I would have concerns about potentially synthetic supplements as they can hack otherwise normal synthesis pathways, and I'd have concerns about children eating kale as they would need strong peristalsis function. I choked a bit on kale once for no obvious reason other than I had been developing fatigue symptoms at the same time. Raw organic kale is my favourite food, for so many health reasons, although I often refrain from buying it at the same time. We should all be eating natural foods!! 😊

    I'm glad you pointed out that the study was funded by big pharma.
    A sample size of 60 is nowhere near enough to make definitive conclusions, furthermore it would be interesting to see the methodology used. Knowing big pharma, they probably hand selected the kids and picked the smartest (with best attainment and recent test eye results) to give the supplements to.
    It would be great if a completely independent study was carried out with a bigger sample size.

    • @DoctorEyeHealth
      @DoctorEyeHealth  2 месяца назад +2

      Hey thanks, although I will point out it isn’t the Pharma industry. But the study was supplied with the supplements by the industry partner. But overall I agree, it would be ideal to see studies not funded by industry (but sadly sometimes hard to find) . Although the vast majority of research in lutien supports the findings of this study.

    Wow! I'm impressed.
    For your education re:actual vegetables, fruits, etc... I actually have a neighbor who does not cook and has provided primary child care. Words from his mouth was a good breakfast was taking his child to McDonalds. That happened 4x a week. I offered this adult a tomato from my garden. He honestly Did Not Know he could wash it off and eat it. (I often eat tomatoes while I'm harvesting without washing them.) He said he was giving the tomato to his aunt as she might know how to use it. Really!? I though you got tomato slices at McDonalds on burgers. He should have at least remembered that.
    I'm fearful offering kale, might be like offering a cross to a vampire. Are the poor working so many part time jobs they've become disassociated and don't have the time to interact with real food?
    By the way among his jobs, he's a fitness trainer and takes supplements, protein, etc...

I found the same frame identical to the one I have (same brand) the only difference is the (bridge size) mine are 21 the other are 19. • @DoctorEyeHealth
      @DoctorEyeHealth  2 месяца назад

      Not necessarily, the lens wells are a different design all together. In addition to that, the pupillary distance will be different and you would be looking through the lenses about 1mm off in both eyes. Which if the prescription is low, may not make a huge difference, but it wouldn’t technically not be the correct prescription anymore. Hope that helps. Cheers

    one other product I hope you have time to look into, Dr Christopher's Herbal Eyebright - Eye Formula . I've used the drops as a tincture, but not as an eye wash - though many people used it directly in their eye rather than mix it with water into a wash - the instructions are very clear, but people are.. well.. anyway... - It needs to be mixed bc it has cayenne pepper in it, I'm sure this is an old time holistic medicine, but wondering what the pepper actually does?

    • @DoctorEyeHealth

      While I am not currently familiar with this formula, pepper products contain capsaicin, which is a know irritant to the eye can often cause pain, burning and redness to the eyes. There are some medical uses for it, paradoxically low dose capsaicin as been used for helping with pain due to post herpetic neuralgia. Ultimately though, I will need to research it a bit. Hi Dr. Allen, I am legally blind in one eye due to amblyopia when I was young. Is there any hope to get full vision in that eye again? I can see most things in that eye, but not clearly enough to see at a reliable vision. Glasses don't help that eye. My doctor said no. Because he said the brain basically turned that eye "off" because we had surgery to align the eyes to late.

    • @DoctorEyeHealth
      @DoctorEyeHealth  2 месяца назад

      I am someone that never likes to never, but it's true that with deep seeded amblyopia, it can be very difficult to retrain the brain to appreciate better vision once someone has aged past 8-12 years old. There are isolated cases of people slightly improving their vision but it may never get back to what your other normal eye sees.

    The best way to lie is to blend it with truth, hey doc?
    I don’t care about anyone else’s opinions, I see you. You know I’m right, deny it all you want.
    “Trust the study conducted by supplement’s makers”
    Pathetic!!

      Sorry you are feeling this way. It is absolutely important to read studies carefully and see where there could be influence. While the producers of the lutein formulation did supply the formulation for the study, they otherwise had no other hand in the study or it's outcomes. But when looking at the broader landscape of studies on carotenoid supplementation, the findings are in agreement.
